The metro outlook of Microsoft‘s Windows 8 platform has defined the company’s aesthetic designs for quite some time. This is manifest in Skype for Windows 8.1 which comes with an impressively clean interface and the ability to multitask with perfect ease.
The interface:
The highlight of Skype for Windows 8.1 is its interface. It is impeccably clean and once you initiate a chat with any of your contacts, the entire screen displays only brief details of that contact to the left and huge chat space on the right. This lets you not only chat in a neat window with a predominantly white background, it also gives you enough space to view any media that your contact may share.
Video messages and video calls:
You can send and receive video messages with your contacts right from the chat window. Once you click on a share video message, it automatically assume a full-screen view, letting you get a good look at whatever is being shared. u Similarly, if you go for a video call, it is displayed in a full-screen mode with a few controls at the bottom of the screen.
Multitasking:
You can indulge in other tasks while chatting on Skype. This wouldn’t minimize or cover your chat window – rather, the window will be halved so that the other half of the screen displays whatever other content, say a link in a browser, that you are viewing.
Sharing files:
The great thing about Skype on Windows 8.1 is that you can not only send photos, videos and files, they need not be limited to a given size. In other words, if you wish to send a sizable file to a friend on Skype, you can do so without navigating away.
