Google Glass Might Have Wink-Based Photography Support

Over the past few months, Google Glass has become somewhat of a sensation in the tech arena. The developer version of Google Glass have already started shipping while the search giant has also showed off different apps for it. A look into the app code of the gadget suggests that it may support wink-based photography.

Google Glass

Google released the code of the Android app that will accompany Google Glass. Reddit user Fodawim delved into the code and realized that a particular section of the code was titled ‘Eye gestures.’ Under the title, multiple lines of code indicate that the sensors embedded on Google Glass will be able to not only register the movement of your eyes but also different gestures.

Moreover, the code also suggests that users can activate or deactivate eye gestures. In other words, you don’t have to worry that the Glass will take a photograph every time you wink since it is an optional feature.

The possibility of snapping photos simply by winking one’s eyes is very exciting. And it will essentially allow users to take photographs, with perfect ease, even at occasions when both their hands are busy. Users can simply activate the option and tell the 5-megapixel camera to take a shot simply by winking.

At the same time, this raises the issue of privacy yet again. Google Glass has been criticized by different quarters as a tool that may jeopardize the privacy of others. And a feature such as wink-based photography may only make things worse on the privacy front.
