Xbox Next Game Console Has Been Code-Named “Durango” By Microsoft

Different rumors are flying all around regarding the Xbox Next game console that Microsoft plans to release in future. From the specifications to features to release dates and now code-names, everyone is presenting a different theory. The latest claim is that Microsoft has decided to code-name Xbox Next as ‘Durango.’ Earlier we had been told that the code name for Xbox Next console is ‘Loop.’ So which of the two is true?

It has been claimed that a number of sources have claimed that the code name for Xbox Next game console that will most probably be launched in 2013 or at the start of 2014, will be ‘Durango.’ So far, Microsoft hasn’t issued any official word as to the authenticity of either of the claims, so both are not authentic and so far, are mere rumors.

Microsoft has a knack of assigning multiple code-names to it’s gaming console. For instance, Xbox 360 before it was released, was termed Xenon, Xbox 2 and Xbox FS. Microsoft actually seems to assign different names for each iteration of the design of the device. So one shouldn’t be surprised if eventually, both the claimed names are indeed assigned to Xbox Next game console.

According to analysts, it is quite possible that the overall name for the Xbox Next project is called Loop whereas Durango turns out to be the code name for the commercial version of the device.

Microsoft seems to be working hard on this gaming console. The company has already sent development kit of Xbox Loop to the developers. But so far, Microsoft has been tight-lipped about any progress on Xbox front.
