Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 For iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch And Apple TV 2G Released

iPhone Dev Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 for both Windows and Mac to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone and iPod Touch.It uses the same Limera1n exploit which Geohot came up with. It can jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G (Non MC Model)/3G/4G on iOS 4.1 and the iPad running on iOS 3.2.2 along with a few other surprises.

Redsn0w 0.9.6 b2 can now also restore the custom firmware ipsw files to your idevice that are created using PwnageTool for Mac and also creates custom boot logos for iPhone 3GS (old bootrom). The earlier version of redsn0w was not supporting jailbreak on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 3G/ 4G.

iPhone Dev Team had this to say in a blog post announcing the release of the latest version of Redsn0w:

It looks like geohot’s recent limera1n exploit for iPhone3GS/iPhone4/iPad/ipt3g/ipt4g/atv2g will be very beneficial to jailbreakers and unlockers for the next few months (at least). geohot’s limera1n program and the alternative greenpois1on program both use his same exploit (although greenpois0n refuses to tell you that, FWIW), and hopefully SHAtter can be saved for some later device.

Dev team has also added the following new features in Redsn0w 0.9.6b2:

*custom bootlogos for iPhone3G/iPhone3GS/iPod2G users (with qualifying bootroms)
*an option that implements the “DFU” button in PwnageTool. This button (which you can use from Windows) lets you prepare your device for a custom DFU. Even if you’re purely a Windows user, you can get a trusted friend to run PwnageTool over your IPSW to create a custom IPSW. You can now install that custom IPSW on your own Windows box, after you run this redsn0w version.

    I’m stuck at exploiting limerain

    same problem as Alex, stops half way through limera1n and if I unplug it the bar gets near the end and does not do anything, then I reboot manually nothing happens still then I set it back to the way it wanted me to, it finishes and freezes on waiting for reboot. To be honest it’s done this with all the redsn0w jailbreaks, it never finishes.

    Upgraded to 4.2.1 and everything, done EVERYTHING

    Ipod touch 3g, windows 7 and tried on windows xp sp3
