Nokia has been reeling from huge revenue losses in recent quarters. As the company wraps up its Symbian business in most part and tries to focus on the smartphone market, it has been facing a tough time due to such contenders like Samsung and Apple which already dominate the smartphone market. However, it seems that there is finally a silver lining for Nokia.
Wild demand of Lumia 900:
One of the chief flagship Windows Phone devices that Nokia has launched so far is the Lumia 900. Its an excellent phone with a great interface and very smooth user experience. The device was initially received with a lukewarm response but it seems that the world is gradually warming up to it.
U.S. is the key market which holds the future of nearly all smartphone vendors. If a vendor makes it big in the U.S. market, it makes it big everywhere because U.S. smartphone market is the largest in terms of smartphone. And Nokia is gradually succeeding in this market.
When Nokia first launched the device, most carriers didn’t want to carry it because they thought it didn’t stand much chance. However, AT&T chose to carry the device and showed quite a commitment to it. The result, now, is that the demand for Nokia Lumia 900 has risen tremendously, so much so that Nokia is finding it hard to keep up.
According to Nokia’s U.S. President, Chris Weber, “Demand has been outstripping supply for the first couple of weeks, and we’ve been working hard to rectify that. The demand for cyan [phones] is significantly outpacing supply. When you give people something different from a design perspective—colors, etc. —it really stands out, and consumers want that.”
Plans for PureView 808:
Now that Nokia is tasting the first success in the smartphone market, it definitely is not going to sit on it. The company has plans of launching yet another awesome smartphone, PureView 808, soon. It’s basically a Windows Phone variant but the big thing about this device is that it comes with an eye-popping 41-megapixel camera, something which can really pitch in with the users.
Moreover, Nokia is also in talks with the largest wireless carrier in US, Verizon. And shall these talks succeed and Windows Phone finally becomes available with Verizon, Nokia may be in for yet higher demand for its smartphones.
