Asus has announced the launch of a new device naming as EA800.It takes the form of a digital notepad and can double as an electronic reader, one which comes with a stylus that can be used to write on its (resistive) screen.
This device features an 8-inch anti-glare display which supports a resolution of 768×1024, it does not display color, however does display grayscale (64), it also recognizes 256 levels of pressure from a touch pen and should be pretty accurate with its 0.01mm resolution (2540dpi).
Other specs worth mentioning include WiFi b/g, 4GB of ROM, a 2 megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, a 3700mAh battery, a 3.5mm earphone jack, a micro USB port and a built-in microphone.
The 3700mAh battery will give the Eee Note EA800 up to 10 days of standby time, 13.5 hours of continuous reading/writing (with the wireless off), or 10 hours of continuous reading/writing with the wireless on.
This device supports a wide-range of formats, these include PDF, ePub, MP3, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, txt, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt and pptx.
No pricing details are available yet. But as we said, release date is most probably sometime after the CES 2011.
Wacom input, not resistive. As far as I know the pen registers the pressure.. Should be very accurate.
