Taiwanese multinational company Asus has unveiled its latest phablet, PadFone Infinity, at MWC 2013. The PadFone Infinity is an Android smartphone that docks into a large display to become a tablet.
This PadFone Infinity runs Android 4.2 Jelly bean and comes with 5-inch display with 1080p resolution. The device uses a nano-SIM instead of a micro-SIM and is powered by 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. It packs a quad-core, 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 chip with an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB/64GB built-in storage.
ASUS has added a 13-megapixel auto-focusing rear camera with an LED flash that can capture up to 100 sequential images at 8 frames-per-second while simultaneously recording 1080p Full HD video. The device has a 2,400mAh battery that promises to provide up to 19 hours of 3G talk time. The “Pad”, which Asus calls the “Infinity Station,” features a 10.1-inch 1080p equipped display with 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and is capable of increasing the smartphone’s battery life to 40 hours or fully recharging the docked PadFone up to three times.
PadFone Infinity supports EDGE, GPRS, GSM, WCDMA,LTE and DC-HSPA+, along with all the usual radios: WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, A-GPS and even GLONASS. It is supposed to come in gray, gold and hot pink color.
The PadFone Infinity will be offered in the UK for £799 (equivalent to €999) for the phone and an additional £199 for the tablet dock. PadFone Infinity will be available in April in Europe. Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the US soon.
