Rumors have long been abound regarding a Google tablet that a company may release some time soon. In fact, there were leaked images of a purported Galaxy Nexus tablet. While Google’s Android platform has been popular on many tablets from multiple vendors, Google hasn’t directly released a tablet yet. However, now a few hints from a benchmark site suggest that Google is all set with a new tablet of its own.

The information has been revealed on Rightware’s Power Board benchmark site. The relevant data speaks of a 7-inch Google Asus Nexus tablet which runs the next version of Android, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (which hasn’t been even released yet). The tablet is said to have a Tegra 3 Quad Core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz.

This is the information that seems to corroborate the existence of such a tablet:

Clearly, the information seems to point directly to a Google tablet which comes from Asus and runs Android Jelly Bean. The device details divulge that the tablet may have a 768 x 1280 display and a NVIDIA ULP GeForce GPU.

Google has also been following an unnamed tradition of naming its Nexus devices after the names of different fishes. This fresh information falls in line with this tradition in that the tablet is being called ‘grouper.’ Both the name of the tablet, ‘Nexus 7’ as well as its resolution seems to point to a 7-inch tablet.

Also, one interesting point is that while many had speculated that the next Google Android release may be termed Android 5.0, this fresh information seems to point to a rather different version number – Android 4.1. While all this is unconfirmed, it bears a very strong resemblance to truth and may as well be true.
