Heart-shaped Solar Farm: The World’s Most Beautiful Power Plant

Who says that solar power plant can’t be gorgeous? The people of New Caledonia are out to prove the naysayers wrong. Australian solar company Conergy is building a heart-shaped solar farm which is claimed to be the most beautiful solar power plant of the world.

Heart-shaped Solar Farm In Australia

This beautiful and eye-catching heart-shaped solar farm is being built on the Pacific Island of New Caledonia. Local beverage company Froico SA commissioned this stunning plant and now, Conergy is building this solar power plant. The plant’s shape was inspired by a nearby mangrove forest that has naturally grown into a heart shape, known as the “Coeur de Voh (Heart of Voh). However, this heart-shaped solar farm will contain 7,888 panels across the four-acre site on Grand Terre, New Caledonia’s largest island. This solar farm will supply 2 megawatts of solar power to 750 homes on the Pacific island.

Heart of Voh

The managing director of Conergy said, “The ‘Coeur de Voh’ is an important landmark for the people of New Caledonia, and shows just how extraordinary nature can be. The ‘Heart of New Caledonia’ solar plant will be its man-made double, a landmark for clean power generation, showing that we can add new power plant wherever it’s required, and still keep a lid on carbon emissions. It will also probably be the world’s first beautiful PV plant, and perhaps the first beautiful power station of any description, anywhere on the planet.”

Coeur de Voh

It is expected that this plant will save 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its projected 25-year lifetime and reduce the French overseas territorys dependence on oil, gas and coal, which generate the majority of its power today. This solar farm is supposed to start generating power next year.
