90% Code Of New MegaUpload Completed, Says Kim Dotcom

When U.S. authorities took down MegaUpload earlier this year, it was a massive hit for online file-sharers. Millions of users relied on MegaUpload to share their files. However, the site’s founder, Kim Dotcom, has hinted that he is coming back soon with a more secure and legally-protected MegaUpload.

The case against MegaUpload’s team is ongoing but given its rather slow pace, we can rest assured that it would be months before it gets anywhere. And in the meanwhile, Kim Dotcom has no plans of sitting idle and do nothing.

Rather, he has been working on an all-new MegaUpload of which he had hinted earlier on his Twitter profile. The latest update from him on this new project is, “Quick update on the new Mega: Code 90% done. Servers on the way. Lawyers, partners and investors are ready.”

Given the sheer bulk of traffic that MegaUpload commanded, at times 50 million visitors per day, it is no wonder that a lot of investors would want to put their money on the new project. Moreover, the mention of ‘lawyers’ in his tweet is also significant. Dotcom had earlier promised that the new MegaUpload would be fully protected from any legal problems. And he seems all set to accomplish the task.

Speaking about this new MegaUpload, he stated, “We are building a massive global network. All non-US hosters will be able to connect servers & bandwidth.”

Apparently, the new MegaUpload will be much more than a file-sharing hub – on the contrary, it will be coming with a whole host of new features and services.
