Mozilla Deemed The Most Trusted Internet Company For Privacy In 2012

Online privacy is a bitter point of contention for both users as well as web-based companies. Users want guarded privacy controls, companies need user data to make money and there’s a deadlock. Mozilla, however, seems to be in the users’ good books since the company was recognized as The Most Trusted Internet Company for Privacy in 2012.

Mozilla

Despite the fact that Google has long adhered to the ‘Don’t be evil’ policy, the search giant has lost favor with many users over the privacy features built into the whole range of its apps. Mozilla, on the other hand, has been doing really good on this front.

The study that awarded Mozilla the title surveyed some 100,000 users in the U.S. In terms of privacy, Mozilla trumped all other companies, scoring the highest in the ‘Internet & Social Media industry’ category.

This goes on to show that although Google Chrome currently leads the race in terms of number of users, Mozilla is still the most secure and trust web browsers. Mozilla team has been working on the ‘Do Not Track’ feature which essentially prompts a user to allow or refuse a website or a browser from tracking his/her activity. The feature has been hailed by privacy activists and enables a user to avoid being tracked without knowledge or permission.

What has probably helped Mozilla achieve a fairly fool-proof privacy for its users is the fact that the team actively collaborates with the open-source community at large and is open to suggestions regarding privacy controls.
