Anonymous Hackers Are Angry Over Zynga’s Lay-Offs

Zynga recently laid off a number of its employees in a manner that can, at best, be called unprofessional. Apparently, that has pissed off hackers hailing from the hacktivist group, Anonymous, who have now warned company that they may release its as yet unreleased games and other confidential documents.

Zynga was indeed forced to commit the lay-offs given the fact that the company’s stock value has hit virtually rock-bottom. While Zynga was among the first players who coined the concept of social gaming on social media, the company has been on a downward spiral since quite some time.

At the time of the lay-offs, the company also announced that it was shuttering its studio in Boston and had plans of shutting down other studios in Japan and UK in the coming days.

Those decisions have apparently attracted the ire of Anonymous hackers who have now revealed that Zynga is planning to move more jobs into ‘convenient financial countries.’ In other words, the company will be outsourcing jobs to countries such as China and elsewhere so that its costs are significantly trimmed down.

Anonymous has now warned that Zynga must abandon these plans or that the group will wreck significant damage on the company. Zynga has been given time till November 5th to submit to Anonymous’ demands. Otherwise, the group threatens, it will release a number of such unreleased games that it has nicked from Zynga’s servers, for free to the public. 5th November, interestingly, is also marked as the Guy Fawkes Day.
