New Dangerous Malware ‘Flame’ Detected By Analysts

Cyber world is fraught with malwares and numerous other threats. And companies working on cyber security keep trying to detect and find out any newer additions to the list so as to update their software packages to deal with them effectively. Kaspersky Lab has now detected a new malware which is called Worm.Win32.Flame or in short ‘Flame.’

According to Kaspersky, Flame is a ‘new advanced cyber threat’, the likes of which hasn’t been seen before. The malware is aimed at stealing valuable information from the target machines.

This malware is very complex and accomplished a whole host of functions. Moreover, the most dangerous thing about the malware is that it has been on the loose since 2011 and so far, no security program has been able to detect and discover it because of its complexity. In other words, this means that Flame is immune to nearly all the current security and anti-malware software that are being used and can infiltrate a machine even with these software installed.

Putting Flame in the same category as the notable cyber threats Duqu and Stuxnet, the blog at Kaspersky says that Flame is far more complex than ‘all other cyber menaces known to date.’

In the words of the CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab, Eugene Kaspersky, “The risk of cyber warfare has been one of the most serious topics in the field of information security for several years now. Stuxnet and Duqu belonged to a single chain of attacks, which raised cyberwar-related concerns worldwide. The Flame malware looks to be another phase in this war, and it’s important to understand that such cyber weapons can easily be used against any country. Unlike with conventional warfare, the more developed countries are actually the most vulnerable in this case.”
