Apple had launched a Messages beta program for OS X Lion users so that they can get a taste of Apple’s new service. Apple later made the service a part of the new OS X Mountain Lion. Now, the company has announced that the beta offering for OS X Lion users will no longer be available after December 14th.

According to a report, the yet-unreleased Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge chip has been tested on a modified version of OS X Lion. And according to different benchmark tests and their scores, the OS environment runs very smoothly on the upcoming Intel chip. This is probably an indication of how well the two may go along shall Apple decide to use the chip in its next-generation Mac models.
