Facebook Wants To Change Its Search Results

Facebooking has become a huge part of those who remain active with their online activities. With the sharing features increased on Facebook, the content that the users are generating has also been on the upward hill. Just to cater to this newly created content, a former Google engineer had been hired by Facebook. Who better to look for content management than Google, which is able to put together a meaningful content generated by users.

According to Businessweek, Facebook has long been seeking to get a makeover of its search products to get in shipshape. The Google engineer who has been commissioned with this job is Lars Rasmussen who would be leading a team of two dozen other engineers. All of them attempting to make easy the search through a large volume of user-generated content, just to provide a good user experience.

At the moment, a user can search another member of the social network and can also look for friends via email recommendations or even through a simple search. Facebook groups and events and pages, all of these could easily be located. Also, alongside the Facebook search results come up the Microsoft Bing search results for the same query. One of thing that bothers is that while on search for something on Facebook does not come up, even though when you know it is there on the social network.

For the same reason, Facebook has now finally submitted to the expertise of Google in the domain and will upgrade its search feature accordingly soon. Even though Google has got 67% of the search dominance, but Facebook does not even match Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL, Ask, and even Amazon. Thus, for those who could find a similar query from somewhere else. This is monetarily also a problem for Facebook, because the ads based on keywords search then do not come up with search queries.
