Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform may have some pretty good devices as well as nifty software to its name, it hasn’t been able to gain as much traction in the tech world as iOS or Android devices. And the chief reason for this is that Windows Phone platform lacks an adequate number of apps. In such a scenario, every new app for Windows Phone devices is a welcome addition.
The latest to land on Windows Phone is Samsung’s cross-platform messaging app called ChatON. Samsung already has BlackBerry, iOS and Android version of the app available and had promised a while ago that it will soon be releasing one for Windows Phone users too. Now, the company has lived up to its promise.
One may ask who would want to use Samsung’s ChatON while there are a whole host of other options available, including some very popular ones such as Google Talk. The good thing about ChatON is that it is cross-platform and does have one or two unique features which may intrigue the users.
Moreover, with Windows Phone platform already low on apps, the addition of ChatON to the list is great since this will give Windows Phone users more freedom and choice to select a messaging app of their choice. With ChatON, Windows Phone users can also talk to their friends tooling iOS or Android devices. You can download the app right here.
So far, Microsoft has been trying hard to bring developers into the fold of Windows Phone and bolster the creation of Windows Phone apps. However, developers flock to such platforms which already boast huge user bases, such as Android and iOS. And that essentially means that they shy away from Windows Phone. Is this going to change in the coming days? We will have to wait and see.
