Although Microsoft’s Surface tablets haven’t been able to gain much traction, the company seems hopeful with the lineup. It had recently announced a new Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet and has now revealed the pricing of this new model.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro is more or less the same as Windows RT in its looks. Yet, the tablet packs far more powerful hardware and a number of additional features which makes it more or less a complete PC.
The Surface with Windows 8 Pro is available in two variations – one is the 64 GB model priced at $899 and another is the 128GB model costing a cool $999. Of course, the tablets are meant as high-end tablets and Microsoft’s marketing makes it look like as if the company is pitching them as viable alternatives to full PCs.
Under the hood, the Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet carries an Intel next-gen core i5 processor together with a 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution display. Through a Mini DisplayPort, the tablet can be used to run an external display with a resolution up to 2560 x 1440.
The tablet will also support pen input and you can directly enter notes and pen down documents on the display. Armed with the Palm Block technology, you can write extensively using a pen without worrying about your palm touching the display. It also supports Windows 7 applications.
Together with a kickstand, the tablet does indeed fare to be a complete PC and not just a tablet. By being a mere 14mm thick and weighing only two pounds, this is certainly one of the sleekest (tablet) PCs.
