ATLANTE UAS

Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), ATLANTE is equipped with the latest-generation technology, including automation, sensors and protection systems. It is developed by the Spanish aircraft industry and has been designed according to the standards used for manned aircraft. ATLANTE ensures intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions by day and night for ground forces deployed in theater.

According to Cassidian, an EADS subsidiary, ATLANTE is “the very first tactical UAS capable of carrying out both civil and military missions,” such as urban and rural surveillance, search and rescue, natural disasters, forest fires, monitoring of sporting events, etc. It can take off from an unprepared runway, or be launched from a catapult.

For the first time on March 28, ATLANTE successfully performed the maiden flight. The flight took place at Rozas airfield, in the Castro de Rey municipality of Lugo.
