Not a good quality product. Many reports of video (display) going out shortly after 12 month warranty. To fix, must replace motherboard.
This thing blows, I cant see to disable the touch screen the damn keyboard and on screen controls relentlessly bother me in the middle of something, impossible to use
If you enjoy replacing your computer once a year, then this is your dream machine! Just sent mine in for the third motherboard replacement in 14 months! I’ve freed up hours of wasted time working and playing on my computer and now enjoy, instead, hours of MASH reruns on TV. Thankyou Gateway!
Bought mine in February 2011. In January 2012 the video display went black. Have sent the machine to the Gateway/Acer repair center in Temple, TX three time since January, and the motherboard has been replaced each time. Luckily the problem occurred during the warranty period, so I only had to pay one-way shipping on the first repair. Gateway paid for all other shipping after the first trip to Texas. The third and most recent motherboard replacement was completed last week. Just waiting for the display to go black again, as the “fix” seems to only be good for approximately 3 weeks. The good news is, Gateway is now paying for overnight shipping both ways, so I’m only without a computer for 5 days at a time now.
same sentiments, I must admit this is quite literally THE junk out there, gateway and acer in general are notorious for bottom of the market cheap entrance level computers that teach those who try to save a dime on technology, cheap does not always and really mean cheap when other costs like stalled business, repair and shipping costs, data backup and recovery costs are weighed in over their ridiculously short lifespans
