Sparrow Hits In Mac App Store

Sparrow, e-mail application for Mac, is now available at the Mac App Store. Less than one week after its launch, Sparrow 1.0 has become the number one paid for app in the Mac App Store in the US, France, Germany and the UK.

Sparrow version 1.0, which is claimed to be a solid alternative to mail, features support for multiple accounts, inline attachments and labels, in addition to a quick reply box.

Its user interface design borrows profoundly from social-networking platform Twitter for Mac.

Sparrow version 1.0 demands Mac operating system X Leopard 10.5 or later. The beta version of the app will require to be uninstalled manually, before the installation of version 1.0.

Sparrow Lite, the free version of the app, will also be available following after it is approved by the Mac App Store. The Sparrow Lite app will support only one account and will be funded by advertisements.

Sparrow version 1.1, which will reportedly provide IMAP support for the likes of Mobile Me, AOL and Yahoo, will soon undergo private beta testing.

Sparrow 1.0 is now available from the Mac App Store for $9.99. The app aims to offer a much more simplified e-mail experience for Mac users than rivals Mail and Postbox.
