PSN Welcome Back Package Now Available

PSN Welcome Back package is here, our long global nightmare is over and to be eligible you’ll have to have been a member before April 20th but, otherwise, it’s relatively qualifier free. Fire up the PlayStation Store and head to the Welcome Back tab to claim your pair of free games. There are a few other freebies to placate the masses too, like 100 free items in PlayStation Home, while Current Plus and Music Unlimited Premium subscribers get a 60 and 30 day handout………

Sony is beginning to rollout the official Welcome Back package in both North America and Europe, PSN subscribers now have access to the free games as a token of apology by the company and all you’ll need to do to access the content is enter the special Welcome Back section of the PlayStation Store for the PS3 or PSP and choose two of the titles listed for your region. The Welcome Back package is live from now until July 3 and allows PS3 users to pick two games out of a selection five and PSP owners to select two games out of a selection of four. The only caveat is that they need to have been subcribers prior to April 20, 2011. For PS3 owners, go to the ‘Welcome Back’ section in the PlayStation Store and select 2 titles from the following list:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

For PSP owners, go to the ‘Welcome Back’ section of PlayStation Store on your PSP system and select 2 titles from the following list:

  • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

Sony is also throwing following extras:

  • A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
  • 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
  • Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
  • Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
  • Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
  • To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.

Current PS Plus subscribers will have a total of 60 free days added to their subscription while non-subscribers will get the premium service 30 days free automatically. PlayStation Network users will also get 100 virtual items in PlayStation Home and there will be a selection of “On Us” movie rentals this weekend only in areas where the video service is available. Music Unlimited Premium subscription members will also receive an additional 30 days of premium subscription plus days lost due to the outage. Be aware that you may have trouble getting to the free stuff. The PSN servers are getting swamped  with people trying to download their free games since this news broke so there may be some errors. This offer is good until July 3 so you may want to hold off a for at least a few hours if you are having issues. The PS Blog has a solution if it appears that you have lost your downloads.

If this happened, go to the XMB and under the PlayStation Network column, go to Account Management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotions to download the game for that first slot.
