Starting from yesterday Pod2g has discovered a new untethered jailbreak vulnerability for iOS 4.2.1 / 4.3 to Geohot’s untethered exploit using iboot-level and now it appears that GreenPois0n RC5 had also untethered iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 2G, 3G and 4G. Twitter user @JHackstar tipped us off to a Wiki showing that GreenPois0n RC5 is ‘coming VERY soon’ and will support all devices.
According to the tweet by JHackStar:
So the good news is GreenPois0n RC5 is coming out very soon to untether your iOS 4.2.1 since Apple has fixed the kernel exploit in iOS 4.3 so there is no reason why Chornic Dev-Team has to delay the release of GreenPois0n RC5. iPhone Chronic Dev-Team will start a new attempt to find another exploit and release GreenPois0n back again with iOS 4.3 support, and that’s what Pod2g has said in his tweet as well.
The good point is that because of this (and the fact that Apple fixed the kernel exploit in 4.3), we’re all working back on releasing gp.
Unfortunately no ETA has been officially announced neither said by any of the Dev-Team member. However, it will arrive very soon as there is no point of keeping it with them. Everyone might be waiting to untether their iOS devices and the time ends soon.
