Lenovo recently released its latest multimedia notebook, the IdeaPad Z560, while HP has updated and expanded its lineup of AMD powered notebooks with the dv6z, dv6z Select Edition, and portable dm3z.

Lenovo recently released its latest multimedia notebook, the IdeaPad Z560, while HP has updated and expanded its lineup of AMD powered notebooks with the dv6z, dv6z Select Edition, and portable dm3z.
The new Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 and IdeaPad Z560 entertainment notebooks are part of the new Lenovo IdeaPad Z line, introduced this spring, and are focused on providing consumers with a rich, yet mobile, entertainment experience. Like the recently refreshed HP Pavilion line, the new Z series have a metallic lid that won’t be such a fingerprint magnet.
Lenovo has extended its IdeaPad laptop family unit with two latest Z series models. The new laptops comprise of IdeaPad Z360 and IdeaPad Z560, which also brings along a variation – IdeaPad Z565 laptop.
You can watch HD movies over the widescreen using optional Blu-ray drive and also get pleasure from realistic sound with Dolby Advanced Audio. The 15.6-inch widescreen display bearing IdeaPad Z560 laptop comes with comparable configuration.
Both the IdeaPad Z360 and the IdeaPad Z560 are powered by Intel processors (up to the Intel Core i7-620M) and have a 16:9 display. The IdeaPad Z360 has a 13.3” HD display and the IdeaPad Z560 has a 15.6” HD display; both running at 1366×768. Both of these new notebooks come with a chiclet style keyboard, “metallic effect” lid, the option for a Blu-Ray drive, Dolby Advanced Audio and a OneKey Theater II setting that optimizes the notebook for multimedia consumption.
Additionally, the IdeaPad Z line features DDR3 RAM (up to 8GB), the ability to configure with up to an NVIDIA GeForce 315M 1GB GPU and DirectShare technology for DropBox like syncing of your important files across multiple computers. Rounding out the experience is a standard plethora of ports including USB 2.0, eSATA, BlueTooth, 802.11n WiFi, a 5-in-1 card reader and a webcam.
Lenovo hasn’t revealed the final configurations with optional upgrades for any of the above mentioned laptops. As of now, we don’t know when IdeaPad Z series laptops will be available in India.
The IdeaPad Z360 and Z560 will be available in June, along with the AMD powered IdeaPad Z565, and base models of the IdeaPad Z series start at $649.
Lenovo has upgraded the existing IdeaPad U series laptop lineup with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 Ultra Low Voltage Mobile processors that were released in January this year. All IdeaPad U Series laptops that include 11.6-inch U160, 14-inch U460 and 14-inch U460s models measuring less than an inch-thick and weigh less than 1.75kgs. Out of these, U460 and U460s get upgraded with Intel Core i7 series mobile processors. On the other hand, U160 and U460 get ultra-low voltage processors for longer battery life and lower power consumption. These upgraded models would be available in June for U.S. nationals at a price starting at $699 (Rs. 31,500 approx.).
