HTC Officialy Confirms It’s Not Going To Sell Windows Phone HTC 8S In US

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has confirmed that HTC Windows Phone 8S won’t be coming to the United States. Rather, HTC is going to focus its marketing efforts for the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

HTC 8S Windows Phone

HTC announced both the 8S and 8X on September 19, and the latter handset went on sale in the U.S. in November. AT&T has made California Blue and Limelight Yellow colored 8GB HTC 8X Windows Phone available for $99.99 (with a new contract) and the 16GB model for $199.99 (with a new contract). On the other side, T-mobile USA is only selling the 16GB HTC 8X for $199.99 with different post-paid plans. Interested people can get the device for a down payment of $150. Verizon Wireless is selling the red, black and blue colored 16GB HTC 8X for $199.99 with a new contract.

As both HTC 8X and HTC 8S feature Windows Phone 8, HTC think making the two phones available at contemporary time may not be good. Hence, HTC has decided not to sell the entry-level Windows Phone 8S smartphone in the U.S. Here is the official statement of HTC:

“The Windows Phone 8X by HTC is our signature Windows Phone available at AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless in the U.S. With our focus on the Windows Phone 8X by HTC, the Windows Phone 8S is not currently planned for distribution in the U.S. market.”
