MWC 2012 – ZTE Tania Windows Phone [Hands-On Photos]

ZTE has promised unveiling a number of devices during the Mobile World Congress 2012. And it has lived up the claim. Apart from a number of other devices it has featured on its booth, the two that seem to have secured the spotlight are the Windows Phone devices, ZTE Tania and ZTE Orbit. We laid our hands on ZTE Tania and it came as a fairly decent smartphone, though probably falling among low-range smartphone devices as per its specs.

ZTE Tania is being touted by ZTE as ‘great for a person upgrading from a feature phone to their first smartphone.’ And that stands quite true. For the record, it is the first Windows Phone from ZTE. It comes with fairly modest specs. The display size is 4.3-inches which is pretty good with with it’s ultra-sharp 800 x 480px screen. It tools a 1GHz processor. Moreover, the smartphone has 4GB of storage, which may definitely sound too little to regular smartphone users but then again, it makes for a good start for a former-feature-phone-user.

According to ZTE, it is a phone that provides ‘all the Windows Phone experiences at a very competitive price.’ While we don’t as yet know about the pricing details, it is being said that the device will most probably hit the stores in UK with tariff in the range of £10 – £20. The device has all the necessary perks of a smartphone, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. It comes with a decent 5-megapixel camera which also allows HD video recording.

Overall, the device does quite perfectly what ZTE claims for it – makes for a fine choice for a first-time smartphone user.
