Samsung confirmed that it will launch Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014. And finally, the long awaited Galaxy S5 has been released and it has already created a huge buzz among people as it comes with massive change both outside and inside.
The Galaxy S5 weighs 145 g (5.11 oz) and measures 142 mm x 72.5 mm x 8.1 mm (5.59-inch x 2.85-inch x 0.32-inch). It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM. It has 5.1 inches AMOLED display that can provide 1080p resolution.
The device has a 16-megapixel rear camera that can capture 4K video at a resolution of 5312 x 2988 pixel. This camera also features autofocus, LED flash, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization and more. There is a 2-megapixel front facing camera that can capture video call at a resolution of 1080p.
Samsung has retained the familiar metal-looking plastic surround on the S5. Below the screen, you will find a new home key with integrated fingerprint scanner and capacitive keys for multitasking and Android’s back button. However, the phone comes with 16 GB and 32 GB of internal storage and you can extend it up to 128 GB via a microSD card. It also supports NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE/ANT+, Cat 4 LTE (up to 150Mbps down/50Mbps up). Besides there is an IR remote.
Apart from these features, Samsung has included S Voice personal assistant, its own signature bloops and whistles inside the phone. In addition, the phone also includes My Magazine feature, Samsung’s Flipboard-like news reader. It also has S Health app and new heart-rate sensor on its back. The heart rate monitor is a unique addition and is located just below the camera and reads your fingertip to grab your pulse in about five to ten seconds.
The most notable change is found in the settings menu, where Samsung has swapped out the tabbed interface for a single, vertical scrolling screen with round, flat icons. The charging port of Galaxy S5 comes with an integrated port cover. Moreover, this phone is waterproof and dust-proof. Therefore, if you submerge the phone in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes at a time, nothing will happen.
The Galaxy S5 comes in four different colors — Black, White, Blue, and Gold. But the black and white are the most attractive options.
