There have been mixed reports about the exact launch date of iPad 3. Earlier we noted that a report by Bloomberg stated that iPad 3 will be available in March and that the production volume will be ramped up in February. Now according to a new report, although iPad 3 may well be released in March, the launch event of the tablet at which Apple will first display it publicly will be in February, just a few weeks away from now. Most probably, it will be in the first fortnight of February.
This new report comes from a Japanese publication, Macotakara. The publication claims that this new scoop has been revealed by asian suppliers of Apple. Normally, Apple takes a brief pause between the launching of the device and then it’s public availability. So if we believe this new claim that Apple will bring together the launch event in early February, then most probably the actual availability of iPad 3 will still be in March, 2012.
According to the earlier report by Bloomberg, iPad 3 will come with a high-resolution display, most probably a Retina display. There have also been controversial reports over the thickness of the tablet. Some have claimed that it will be thicker because it uses a Retina display. But others have stated that iPad 3 will be thinner since Apple has never increased the thickness of a new device.
Other possible features of iPad 3 include a quad-core processor and LTE functionality. Also, iPad 3 is rumoured to use more battery material, thus leading to greater costs for Apple on it’s battery.
