It seems that the estimates of analysts and the hopes of Apple haven’t been misplaced after all. Analysts predicted earlier Apple may be able to sell as much as one million new iPad tablets on the launch day. And though Apple hasn’t divulged the exact figures, AT&T has revealed this much that it had record-sales and activations of new iPad on the launch-day.
The most marketable feature of the new iPad is its Retina display. And that is also, as such, the feature which has contributed significantly to the huge sales Apple has garnered on the launch day.
When asked about the exact sales figures, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook was mum about it. But apart from numerous other indications, we have very clear reason to believe, in the form of AT&T’s claim, that Apple did have a field day with the sales, as did the carriers who officially launched the tablet.
4G LTE connectivity support in the new iPad is also a major reason why many users are switching to it, since it promises significantly higher speed than 3G tablets. The tablet was officially launched on March 16 and within the first 24 hours, it has been estimated that a record high number of the tablet has been sold. Analysts are estimating the overall sales of the first day at 1 million, though actual figures may fall short or exceed by roughly 200,000.
The tablet was officially launched with two major carriers, AT&T and Verizon. While AT&T has afforded us a hint at least at its sales, we are still hear from Verizon about the field day.
