Swedish Retailer Starts Taking Pre-orders Of Microsoft Surface Tablet For $1,000

Microsoft has unveiled its very own Surface tablets, running Windows RT and Windows 8, a week ago. Though the software giant company hasn’t revealed anything regarding the retail pricing of these tablets, on Wednesday, WPCentral has found a Swedish website Webhallen listed Surface tablets in their shopping cart. According to that list, Webhallen is taking pre-orders for Microsoft Surface tablets, starting with 32GB Windows RT edition for 6990 krona (roughly $1,000).

Surface Tablet

At a press event, on June 19, Microsoft unveiled two models of Surface tablets – Surface and Surface Pro. These tablets run on Windows RT and Windows 8. Though the company unveiled the Surface tablets, it didn’t unveil the price of these tablets. Rather the company promised that the pricing would be competitive with other tablets and Ultrabooks on the market.

WPCentral has found that over in Sweden, one web retailer has already started taking pre-orders for Microsoft Surface tablets. It has listed the price of some Windows Surface tablets. According to that list, they are taking pre-orders for Microsoft’s 32GB Windows RT-based Surface tablet for 6990 krona (about $1000 or £648). The site also lists 64GB Windows RT Surface at 9,900 krona ($1,432), 64GB Windows Pro Surface at 12,990 krona ($1,862) and 128GB Windows Pro Surface at 14,990 krona ($2,148). The web retailer says that two of the Surface tablet models will ship in the fourth quarter of 2012, while the rest two will come in first quarter of 2013.

If the listed prices are right, then Microsoft should consider it again. I’m sure, the company doesn’t want to kill a product before it is launched.
