Intel Labs Invests $30M in the Future of Cloud And Embedded Computing Two New Labs At Carnegie Mellon

Intel Labs decide to open two new Intel Science and Technology Centers (ISTC) hosted at Carnegie Mellon University focused on cloud and embedded computing research. The ISTC forms a new cloud computing research community that broadens Intel’s “Cloud 2015” vision. With the new ideas from top academic researchers, and includes research that extends and improves on Intel’s existing cloud computing initiatives. For embedded computing forms a new collaborative community to drive research to transform experiences in the home, car and retail environment of the future. American Airlines Brings On Demand Inflight Streaming Video Entertainment

American Airlines announced the initial phase of the launch of Entertainment On Demand. An inflight streaming video product as a brand-new, innovative inflight entertainment option for customers on board its entire fleet of 15 Boeing 767-200 aircraft. The inflight streaming video, which enables customers to wirelessly stream content such as movies and TV shows from an inflight library to select types of Wi-Fi-enabled laptops during flights. This service is primarily transcontinental flights between New York JFK and Los Angeles and JFK and San Francisco – for the introductory price of 99 cents per TV show and $3.99 per movie.
