Microsoft Acquires Yammer For $1.2 billion

Microsoft has confirmed that it has acquired leading enterprise social network provider Yammer for $1.2 billion in cash. There had been dribs and drabs of information that the two companies were speaking about a deal. Microsoft has finally confirmed the news about the acquisition. Yammer’s all setup will join the Microsoft’s office division led by Kurt DelBene. But the team will continue to report to current CEO David Sacks.

Microsoft Marks Free Software Foundation (FSF) Donation Website As ‘Gambling Site’, Blocks Access

The Free Software Foundation’s executive director John Sullivan has publicly complained that Microsoft’s reputation database is listing the Foundation’s donate.fsf.org as a “gambling site”. Corporate systems that use a Microsoft “network security” program cannot access FSF donation website because of this and as a result, many people were unable to make donations to the non-profit. The Foundation was alerted by a Reddit posting where a user broke that he was unable to access the site from his office network.
