Phoronix’s 12-Core ARM Cluster Consumes Lower Power Than Intel Atom, AMD Fusion

Phoronix has constructed a low-cost, 12-core, 30-watt ARMv7 cluster running Ubuntu Linux. The developers have used six PandaBoard ES OMAP4460 dual-core ARMv7 Cortex A9 chips to make the ARM cluster. The power consumption result shows that the ARM cluster has outdone Intel Atom and AMD Fusion processors in performance per-Watt, except Intel’s latest-generation Ivy Bridge processors.
