Online retail giant, Amazon, is anticipating a huge sales bump this fall. Online shopping has seen positive growth over the past year, and it is expected to grow this Christmas too. To keep up with the growing sales orders, Amazon plans to hire 50,000 seasonal employees for its 40 fulfillment centers in the U.S.
The job openings are posted on Amazon Fulfillment webpage. As of now, the online-retail company has just 20,000 employees and they wish to have 70,000 by the holidays to keep customer satisfaction high.
“We’re hiring at our sites across the U.S. for talented individuals to help us deliver a great experience for our customers this holiday season. Temporary associates play a critical role in meeting increased customer demand during the holiday season, and we expect thousands of temporary associates will stay on in full-time positions,” said Dave Clark, vice president of Global Customer Fulfillment.
Full time employees of Amazon receive 30 percent higher pay on average than what traditional retail store employees earn. They also receive stock grants, medical & dental coverage, company-paid life insurance, paid vacation, a 401 (k) plan, and much more.
Seasonal employees will not receive the same benefits as full-time employees; although if they choose to stay beyond the holidays they may choose to join the full-time staff (if needed). The full press release can be read here.
