Twitter is looking to secure itself in every way possible and therefore it has recently acquired Internet security company Dasient. The company specializes in fighting malware and is especially constructed to fit the needs of large companies in every sector ranging from financial services, media and online sectors.
Back in 2010, the company released a service that was meant to scan for malicious ads –the ones who forced users into fishy downloads, by promising some mambo-jumbo. “Over the last year, we have been very active in securing the ads and content of the some of the industry’s largest ad networks and web sites”, said the company in a blog.
Another reason why the company decided to buy some on-line protection might be related to those annoying messages that try and entice users to engage in some “quiz” or “find out who’s their top stalker?”
Dasident sees a real opportunity in joining forces with Twitter, as it is now offered the opportunity to test their malware protection technology on the world’s largest real-time information network. Desident has founded by Neil Daswani, Shariq Rizvi and Ameet Ranadive and it was even supported by Google Ventures in 2011. The company boasts a cloud based software that acts like a shield for websites.
