Pioneer Elite A/V

Consumers, particularly iPhone owners searching for high-resolution multi-channel sound quality can now look forward to four new A/V receiver models by Pioneer. The company recently released the new Elite SC-25, SC-27, VSX-21TXH and VSX-23TXH receivers. These innovative offerings take convenience to new levels and bring cinematic entertainment into the comforts of the home….

Pioneer is introducing a new batch of Elite A/V receivers aimed at making the line more affordable (if less, well, elite). The VSX-30 and VSX-31 feature iPhone and iPod control via Pioneer’s iControl AV app, HDMI 1.4a with 3D support, THX Select2 Plus audio, and an Ethernet port for accessing Sirius XM, Rhapsody, and files off of your home network.

Home electronics brand Pioneer has launched six new A/V receivers, including two new models designed to bring quality home theater experiences to folks on something less than a successful film director’s budget. The new receivers feature improved capability to work with Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, Bluetooth connectivity for streaming audio (via an optional adapter), and HDMI 1.4a support for handling 3D content.

Even with content coming at consumers from so many places and formats these days, we know that while at home, the home theater is still the entertainment hub,” said Pioneer Electronics USA marketing and product planning manager David Bales, in a statement. “For this year’s Elite A/V receiver line, we added a number of new features to enhance the playback to be as true to the artists original intent as possible and simplify the connected home.

The novel Pioneer Elite SC-25 and SC-27 A/V receivers are integrated with a Direct Energy HD Class D amplifier that sports the ICEPower technology. This ensures unmatched high resolution multi-channel stereo reproduction along with compressed audio. Providing premium home entertainment, the SC-27 in particular uses this amplification technology to the best of its abilities. It claims to be the industry’s first Class D amp design with THX Ultra2 Plus as well as AIR Studio monitor certifications.

New Elite models deliver remarkable sound quality directly resulting from our collaboration with AIR Studios, which has allowed us to better understand the artistic vision of the studio professional and deliver the emotional impact they imagined for cinema and home audiences alike,” mentioned David Bales, manager of audio marketing and product planning for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “By working with THX, we are able to ensure these A/V receivers meet the performance requirements needed to recreate the movie theater experience in the home with faithful reproduction of multi-channel soundtracks. Pioneer believes the A/V receiver is the heart of the home theater experience, and our longstanding relationships with these experts reaffirm our passion to bring studio-quality sound with power and precision to the home entertainment experience.

All the new Pioneer Elite A/V receivers come with a “Works with iPhone” stamp, letting iPod and iPhone users plug their PMPs right into the receiver to access their media, and iPhone/iPod touch owners can also get Pioneer’s free iControlAV App from the Apple App Store to use their iPhones/iPod touch devices as remote controls. The entire line offers Bluetooth audio streaming, either via an optional adapter or (in the VX-30 and higher models) using “Sound Retriever AIR” technology Pioneer says offers higher quality compressed audio via Bluetooth.

The receivers include a front USB input, Ethernet connectivity, and offer custom installation options including second- and third-zone audio and video capability, RS-232C connectivity for home automation, dual HDMI inputs with a front HDMI input for hooking up cameras and other portable devices. All the receivers feature Pioneer’s “Wide Surround” designed to work with a wide front speaker arrangements and support 9.1 surround sound with a new “virtual height” option.

Pioneer is offering the VSX-30 and VSX-31 for $550 and $650, with a more affordable price should be good news. Key new features of these machines are enhanced iPhone and iPod touch controls and functionalities, Bluetooth for streaming audio, Internet connectivity to stream Internet radio, and HDMI 1.4a. iPhone and iPod touch users will be able to adjust the receiver’s audio settings with Pioneers iControlAV App which is available for free in the App Store.
