Iceland’s ISPs May Restrain Users From Directly Accessing Porn And Gambling Websites

Is porn good or bad? Well it’s a complicated question. To some people, porn is a soul destroying scourge that amounts to commercial sexual terrorism against women, children and any person with that insidious porn addiction, while to some others, it has a different meaning. But different persons as well as different countries have different thoughts. Currently, Iceland’s two largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) want to block people from accessing the porn websites for “Icelanders safety”.

Porn And Gambling Websites Could Be Banned In Iceland

Many websites are filled with viruses and malwares. So when someone visits those websites, his/her computer or mobile or the device which he/she is using for surfing may become affected by virus or malware. Therefore this issue has stirred Iceland’s two major internet service providers – Vodafone and Síminn. According to RUV, Vodafone and Síminn are considering to block access to porn sites, gambling sites, and related sites for “safety issues”. If that really happens then anyone who wants to surf porn in Iceland first would have to ask their ISP for it.

Vodafone spokesperson Hrannar Pétursson told reporters that their company is not planning to block access to any websites. But for customer’s safety, they need to ask permission before visiting those websites.

Still now, no official decision has been made about restricting or blocking access to such sites.
