U.S. Cellular is launching its 4G LTE network in 30 new markets today. Today’s launch covers both expansion of the 4G LTE network in some states already under coverage and launch of the 4G LTE in some states previously out of coverage. U.S. Cellular will expand its LTE footprint in select cities in Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Oklahoma. The states of Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia will fall under the U.S. Cellular 4G LTE service for the first time. The next wave of expansion will be rolling out in select locations of Oregon, Washington and Tennessee.
U.S. Cellular hopes to cover more than half of its customers under its 4G LTE network coverage before the holiday season begins. David Kimbell, senior vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer for U.S. Cellular, expressed this vision to the press.
The carrier is currently offering a band of four Samsung 4G LTE devices – Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Metrix 4G and Galaxy Aviator. Consumers will soon find another Android phone with 4G capability in the line-up – Motorola Electrify M.
