Study Says Every 1 Out Of 3 Teen Girls Meet With The “Online” Person In “Offline” World

There are many people who make relationships with unknown person via Internet. Some of them even meet with each other in real world too. However, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has made a study on this matter on 251 teen girls ranging from 14 to 17 years of age and found that every 1 teen out of 3 teens, after making relationship with the unknown persons via Internet without knowing much details, meet in the real world. One such meeting led a teen girl to the worst – Rape.

Teen Girl With Internet Equipped Computer

According to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, 30 percent of those 251 teen girls made relationship with unknown persons over Internet and later met with them in real world. But before meeting in real world, the teen girls knew almost nothing about them.

A girl among those 30 percent who went to meet a guy in real world with whom she had acquainted over Internet shared her story. That teen girl said that a guy used to text her a lot and she thought the guy was ‘really nice.’ So she agreed to meet him at a mall and later she got into his car. Later they drove somewhere and the ‘really nice’ guy raped her.

Jennie Noll, a psychologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and lead author of this study found that most the teen girls ended their relationship with the real world person in “sexually provocative ways”.

The study has been published in the journal Pediatrics.
