Google May Launch A Smartwatch This Summer: FT

I’m definitely missing out something here- what is this fuss around smartwatch? From the prototypes that have been leaked so far, the new generation of smartwatches seemed something of the combination of watch-phone-media player. Yeah…tech-savvy gadgets, but not very enticing to me. However, consumers must have a different vide; otherwise, why on Earth every big tech company is running after the pie? The latest name in race is Google.

Motorola Activ

A report by the Financial Times suggests that Google’s Motorola Mobility unit is currently developing a smartwatch of its own. The gadget will work as a companion to Android smartphones, said the report. The expected date of launch is “by the end of summer.”

If true, then Google/Motorla Mobility would be fourth big name in the newly rediscovered race for the smartwatch pie. Earlier today, on a separate note, we have heard about LG’s inclusion in the wearable computing race. Prior to that, rumors about smartwatch from Apple and Samsung came in the limelight.
