Google has announced the intention of launching the successor of Ice Cream Sandwich. Let’s ignore the fact that the Sandwich can be found on only 1% of Android devices, but nevertheless the search giant, seems determined to push the next OS (dubbed Android 5.0 Jelly Bean) in the second quarter of 2012. Android 5.0 Jelly Bean, Optimized for Tablets
First off a rumor coming from Taiwan claimed that the Jelly Bean is highly optimized for tablets. According to good old DigiTimes, Android 5.0 Jelly Bean will come packed with a new dual-boot function. Basically what this means, is that you can chose to have Jelly Bean by itself on the device or opt to overlap Jelly Bean upon a Windows 8 device and switch between the two. Jelly Beat will be able to sport this feat, because it will integrate a Chrome system functions.
Swype and Improved Battery Life, More Goodies in Jelly Bean Android 5.0
Google currently uses Swype and Switkey to get the keyboards delivered to users, but we wonder what would happen, if Google did decide one day to bring such a feat? We hope to find out with Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. How about speeding up the process of updating, Google? Just think how much is lost for owners of devices who still have Froyo running on them.
Also, battery life has been a very important issue for smartphones – and Android devices are no exception. So we expect an improvement into that department as well. And we have history to rely for this prediction. The battery life has greatly improved since Gingerbread and we’re confident it will improve again with the Jelly Bean.
How about some HTC inspired lock screen widgets. They are very flexible and if Google decides to ads some it will be really interesting. Maybe some widgets for clocks or weather that can be viewed from the lock screen.
