We have heard the story of Greek Mythological king ‘King Midas‘ who had the power to turn anything into gold just by touching. As the world has changed, so has the technology. Now anyone can really turn anything into a touchscreen with a new technology – AnyTouch. The software based technology is developed by Ayotle. Using a 3D camera, projector and depth sensor, AnyTouch gives existing interactive media a new twist.
Mexico based Ayotle and Paris based ad agency Digitas Labs have teamed up to create AnyTouch – a simple mat turned touchscreen that sits on top of anything. AnyTouch uses a 3D camera, projector, and depth sensor. When these are combined with Ayotle’s vision software, it detects objects and gestures, allowing anyone to interact with any imaginable surface or object in the projector’s path. The interesting thing is users don’t even need to actually physically touch any object or surface to interact as AnyTouch can detect movement from a distance. With AnyTouch, even a piece of paper can be made interactive. Watch the amazing demonstration in the video below.
