Verizon iPhone 5 To Support Both CDMA and GSM Networks

According to comments made by Verizon CFO Fran Shammo in the company’s last quarterly earnings call, Apple’s next iPhone will be a “global device” compatible with all carriers. The new iPhone 5 details were leaked by Verizon during a conference call while discussing iPhone 4 sales. Currently iPhone 4 devices which are on the Verizon network are CDMA-only.

The Verizon CFO responded with this statement when asked about slow revenue growth in Verizon’s last quarter,

“The fluctuation, I believe, will come when a new device from Apple is launched, whenever that may be, and that we will be, on the first time, on equal footing with our competitors on a new phone hitting the market, which will also be a global device.”

The new iPhone 5 is expected to ship sometime in September, but nothing officially has been confirmed by Apple. Who are probably on the phone to Verizon expressing their displeasure at Verizon disclosing hardware specification of their new iPhone 5 before any official announcement.
