After a lot of wait and speculation and eager anticipation on the end of the users, Samsung is finally rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) upgrade for Galaxy S II users. Samsung did a detailed post recently about this update and that how the company worked things out to deliver it. Included in the post are details and a number of new features that Galaxy S users also get to have, such as Face Unlock and Blink Detection.
Analysts have been criticizing Samsung for the rather delayed ICS upgrade to Galaxy S II users, and for the right reasons. However, the company says that it took the team a lot of effort and work to deliver the upgrade in ‘just 5 months.’ The official blog post states, ‘We released (the GALAXY S II upgrade) just 5 months after the release of ICS. For a phone owner that’s eagerly anticipating the upgrade, it might have felt like a long time. But I hope that people recognize that we put a great deal of effort in order to satisfy and meet customer expectations.’
Now that the ICS upgrade is finally here for S II users, I think we can look past the bitterness for the delay and see over time if it really was worth all the wait. Coming to Galaxy S, Samsung has announced a value pack for the users of this smartphone. And some of the features in this value pack are actually pretty cool.
For instance, this value pack includes the ‘Face Unlock’ feature from ICS. And, as if poignant of the criticism that has been heaped over the security loophole in the Face Unlock feature, Samsung has complemented it with ‘Blink Detection.’ So though Galaxy S users don’t get to have the ICS upgrade, they still have a reason to rejoice.
