Apple’s iPhone is really attractive. But there’s no way to deny that it is quiet a bit costly. Recently, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported that Apple is making a ‘cheap iPhone’ and may launch it later this year.
As Android devices are very cheap compared to iDevices, day by day consumers are trending to buy Android devices. This has made Apple losing its customers slowly, but surely. As soon as Apple realized this, the company decided to make cheap iPhone so that it can attract new customers who usually turned off by looking at the high prices of iPhone.
WSJ reporter Jessica E. Lessin reported that Apple’s cheap iPhone will have a larger screen and modern Snapdragon chipsets from Qualcomm and will come with plastic shell instead of the iPhone 5’s aluminum casing. This cheap iPhone will be available by the end of 2013.
Bloomberg has also reported that Apple has been working on a more affordable smartphone since February (at least) 2011 which will cost in between $99 to $149 and is supposed to debut in late 2013. The report also says that Apple has spoken to at least one of the top U.S. wireless carriers about its plans.
Apple hasn’t opened its mouth on this matter, yet. So, we’ll have to wait to verify, whether it’s just a rumor or a true news. Stay tuned.
