Samsung Eyes 10 Million Galaxy S III Sales Target By July

Samsung has been putting up a major push to make its Galaxy S III handset a success. With the hardware and features packed in this flagship Samsung smartphone, its no surprise that it is witnessing really good sales. But the big question is, will it be able to stand competition from its main rival, the iPhone? It seems that Samsung fairly hopes so.

The device is already available in Europe and from the looks of it, is doing great business. The device also became available in U.S. last week, despite Apple’s efforts to somehow have it banned from the region over alleged patent infringements.

There were rumors, given the rather successful launch and the hype surrounding the device, that Samsung will be able to land a massive 9 million pre-orders. However, that may have been bit too much of speculation. As it is, Samsung’s telecom head, JK Shin, has now said that Samsung expects the total sales of Galaxy S III to hit 10 million by the end of July.

This, by no means, is a bad figure and if it indeed turns out to be right, it would be a huge success for Samsung. Despite fierce competition from Apple’s iPhone which still stands at the top, Samsung has been able to stand it ground and roll out handsets which have led him a leading position in the smartphone market, just short of iPhone.

Moreover, the company had specifically focused on Galaxy S III and continues to do so. By July’s end, the handset will be available in 145 countries across 296 carriers. This would make Galaxy S III the most widely available handset from Samsung.
