Sony has already announced their first Android-based Walkman, the NW-Z1000 series of premium music player. It has announced about this Walkman at an event in Tokyo. This Walkman will run Android 2.3 and also features a glare resistant 4.3-inch screen of 800×640 resolution. The premium music player will house a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, and it will be available in a 16GB, 32GB and a 64GB model and in addition to Sony’s proprietary W. Music player application, the NW-Z100 will have access to the Android Market app library.
The NW-Z1000 series supports most popular video formats, including MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, Mp4, M4v and WMV and it plays full 1920×1,080 HD video at 30fps. It also support music formats including MP3, WMA, ATRAC, Linear PCM, AAC and HE-AAC. Sony announces the battery life will last up to 20 hours of music playback.
The Z1000 will operate on the Google Android 2.3 platform, also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth OPP/A2DP/AVRCP. Also it has S-Master MX sound processing and digital noise cancellation. Walkman NW-Z1000 series has a leather carrying case, screen protector, and headphones.
The Z1000 comes with 16, 32 and 64GB storage options, and pricing is expected to start at around 28,000 Yen ($364) for the 16GB NW-Z1050 model, 33,000 yen ($429) for the 32GB NW-Z1060 model and 43,000 yen ($559) for the 64GB NW-Z1070 model. NW-Z10000 model will be available in black and red. The Android Walkman NW-Z1000 series will be in Japanese stores on December 10.
