1,000 Years Of Math History Comes Through New IBM App For iOS

Famous scientist and physicist Einstein said, “Do not worry about your difficulties in mathematics, I assure you that mine are greater.” Math is such an interesting thing. Through math, you can find solution of many difficult problems. You can hardly find any scientists or researchers who don’t love mathematics. We always eager to know the history of early periods. It’s true that, numbers rule the universe. And based on previous line, IBM released a new iPad app named ‘Minds of Modern Mathematics’ last Thursday. This iPad App presents an interactive timeline of the history of mathematics and its impact on society from 1000 to 1960.

Minds of Modern Mathematics, this app is based on an original 50 feet long ‘Men of Modern Mathematics’ It was created by Charles and Ray Eames in 1964. In fact, The new ‘Minds of Modern Mathematics’ is the modern version of the old ‘Men of Modern Mathematics’. Through the latest ‘Minds of Modern Mathematics’, users can not only view a digitized version of the original infographic but also browse through an interactive timeline with more than 500 biographies, math milestones and images of relevant artifacts.

“Careers of the future will rely heavily on creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration — all themes that were core to the ‘Minds of Modern Mathematics’ movement and remain equally relevant today,” Chid Apte, IBM Director of analytics Research and Mathematical Sciences said. “What better way than a mobile app to reintroduce this timeless classic to inspire a new generation of learners?”

This latest ‘Minds of Modern Mathematics’ contains work and other history of different mathematicians and scientists. Users can have a view of Pope celebrating with mathematician John von Neumann. Users can also see every major math-related event or person on the screen. In fact, this app describes approximately half historical periods till present. The app Minds of Modern Mathematics also comes with an ‘IBM Mathematics Peep Show’. It has nine 2-minute animated clips that will help the users providing a slight knowledge like topology and exponents.

You can get your Minds of Modern Mathematics app absolutely free from iTunes. IBM hopes that classes and students will use the app. We believe, this will provoke more people to pursue math, science or technology related educations and jobs.
