Huawei has announced it’s latest attempt to break into the world of mobile phones, the Huawei Vision and it will launch running Android Gingerbread (2.3) powered with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Huawei Vision pack a 3.7″ display, a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of internal memory, SD card slot for up to 32GB, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM Radio. Android 2.3-based Vision measures 9.9 millimeters at its thinnest point and weighs about 121 grams and Huawei isn’t announcing any pricing, but the fact that the phone has a processor with a single core and a display that isn’t a large as the ones on other high-end Android-based models means it may be in lower price range of the mid-market phones………………

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster suggests interest in the iPhone remains strong and he points to a small survey of 216 mobile phone owners in Minneapolis that shows 64% will buy an iPhone as their next handset. 67% of BlackBerry owners were going to switch to an iPhone next with only 26% sticking with RIM and by contrast, 94% of iPhone owners were going to get an Apple handset again, while 42% of Android owners would be continuing with the OS for their next phone…………….

A fake iPhone 5 clone showing up in China already and Chinese counterfeiters have already started producing an iPhone 5 knock-off partially based on the leaked designs. NTT DoCoMo’s Fujitsu F-07C now available and the dual-booting hybrid is touted as the world’s smallest PC, since it can switch between Windows 7 and Symbian and offers a few netbook-worthy specs. AT&T has finally announced the HTC Status on an official basis with many peering for a concrete release date, and they have not been disappointed. HTC’s Facebook-soaked Status finally has a release date: July 17th. The phone will sell for $49.99 on a two-year agreement, with that tally netting you a dedicated Facebook “Share” button that’ll allow photos / videos /websites to be instantly uploaded to your account.

The ongoing issue with HTC’s locked bootloaders looks to finally be coming to an end. The Taiwan based HTC, announced on their Facebook page that starting in August, select HTC smartphones will be receiving updates that will allow the user to unlock the device’s bootloader.

Toshiba has launched a new 1.12 micrometer pixel CMOS image sensor that boasts the industry’s smallest level pixel size and the new sensor is said to offer improved stability and imaging performance of back-side illumination technology aka BSI. This positioning boosts light sensitivity and absorption, while allowing formation of finer image pixels in smaller CMOS image sensors and bringing it more suitable for motion pictures applications as well. Toshiba is just starting to send out samples to manufacturer’s this month and don’t expect the new gear to show up in mobile devices until at least the end of the year when mass production begins……………
