Can You remember the German physicist and paraglider pilot Thomas Senkel who successfully completed a ride on an electric multicopter that had 16 rotors and made a new record in the Guinness World Record? After a long time, physicist Thomas Senkel is going to create a successor of Multicopter named Volocopter. But instead of 16 rotors, Volocopter has 18 rotors.
E-volo who successfully built Multicopter had decided to build a two-seat multicopter. That time they didn’t think the name of the new copter. Later, they named that their new copter will be named as Volocopter. Maximum 2 people are able to board on the Volocopter. Volocopter has 18 rotors. Each blades (rotors) are about six feet in length and are arranged in two concentric circles atop the cockpit. It can easily take-off and land vertically. Volocopter is built in such a way that even some of its blades fails to rotate, it still could fly smoothly in the air and land safely with 12 blades.
Volocopter can fly up to 20 minutes, but in the near future this will be extended to one hour or more. At present, Volocopter is in prototype stage. Production models could hit the assembly line in three years. For the video, head over to e-volo.
