Google Maps For Android Gets Google Offers And Indoor Walking Directions

Google Maps for Android have been getting a lot of newer features and updates. Now, with the launch of the new version 6.7, Android users get to have not only Google Offers on their devices, they will also be able to make use of Google Maps’ indoor walking directions. The feature of indoor walking directions will most probably be available to users in U.S. as well as Japan.

As far as Google Offers are concerned, they are being offered only to U.S. users for now, though we can expect that Google may make them available to other Android users in the coming weeks.

As it is, Google Offers haven’t been particularly popular and haven’t gained much traction. The company did put its weight behind it but couldn’t pitch it enough to the users. The result is that the whole venture is kind of on a decline. Now, with the integration of the feature in Google Maps for Android, perhaps the company is hoping that they can pitch the whole thing to a great number of audience in the form of Android users. In a way, this hope is not unfounded.

The company’s blog post about the new version stated, ” Today, in the U.S. only, we’re launching a way to discover nearby Google Offers in Google Maps for Android. To see great deals near you, tap on “Maps” to open the dropdown menu and then tap on “Offers.” If you see something you like you can click on it to learn more. Some Google Offers can be purchased and saved for later while others are immediately available for free. With free Google Offers, press “Use now” to redeem instantly or “Save for later” for future use. You can also opt-in to receive notifications in the app when there are offers near you.”

The feature of indoor walking directions can prove to be very useful for the users. Business owners in U.S. and Japan have been contributing their floor plans to Google Maps to enrich the feature and now, they are finally available on Android.
